His alleged girlfriend and Slumdog Millionaire co-star Freida Pinto might have been grabbing the headlines, but Dev Patel has been working hard on his own, with M Night Shyamalan’s adaptation of the massively successful Nickolodeon animated series, The Last Airbender.

The film stars Noah Ringer as young hero Aang, the prophetic chosen one, and Patel stars as Prince Zuko, the evil prince of the Fire Nation. Indian-American actor Aasif Mandvi also stars.

The Last Airbender is slated for release in July 2010.
